The bamboo forests of the Eastern Continent, so very close to the forest valley in which the teenager had been raised. It was a familiar and somewhat comforting feeling being back in such a familiar location. The sights and sounds where familiar, taking the youth back to simpler times before… everything happened. Before he was literally divinely appointed as Prince of a reformed Empire, one lacking a population, before learning the true nature of his mother, before Callion had so callously tried to use trauma to draw out his hidden power, before raising the Gau-la-Furia, before learning the hard truth of how corrupt and heartless the people where, intentionally or unintentionally, before learning of Arctic. Back to when he was just a kid looking for adventure and just wanting to help people, watched over by his adoptive grandmother.
It was unbelievable to think that that earlier time was just a few months earlier.
He’d been training nearly non-stop since the warning had been given, both body and mind. In body to make himself strong enough to even stand a chance of survival in a pitched battle, an effort in which he had come leaps and bounds, rapidly growing for barely registering as having power at all to levels around those of an entry level Fury Knight Lord. He’d even achieved that Super Saiyan form Callion had been banging on about. In mind he’d been studying hard, learning about the Earth at large, honing his tactics in order to use his Furiemshinken to it’s fullest, while also delving into matters relating leadership, both in battle and as a fledgling national ruler.
Between the emotional roller coaster of events and pushing his body and mind to it’s limits the boy could tell he needed to just stop. He was almost ready to break, everything was about to drive him insane, or at least into a sobbing nervous wreck. But he couldn’t allow that, if he cracked now he’d be letting Opherla, and so many others, down.
Thinking of his girlfriend he couldn’t help but worry about her too. She’d been training just as hard as he was when it came to her body, but she was far more straight forward then he was. To him it seemed like she focused only on her body, neglecting training her mind. She was so beautiful and talented and kind. She wanted to protect the Earth and loved the world, a world that hated them for their Saiyan blood. A world that wouldn’t shed a tear if they where killed or forced to leave. Other then the family that adopted her, anyway.
His mind then turned to the less then twenty thousands Saiyan refugees staying within the Gau-la-Furia. Almost all of them where low class and either children or the elderly, the working age numbering less then a third of their number and almost all of them serving the Saiyan Empire in logistical roles. Of the four Elites who had been among them three had gone into stasis, while the last only seemed to stay awake since she saw his being a Super Saiyan as a chance to elevate herself somehow. The handful of mid class Saiyans all had familial relations with the low classes and had chosen to take on peacekeeping roles among the refugees during this crisis.
He then thought of one particular refugee. A little Saiyan girl named Cauri, just twelve years old and yet to have her growth spurt, who had been so desperate to break free of her low class roots she was willing to sacrifice everything just to beg him to be her teacher. Those eyes of hers as she looked up with him with so much hope and adoration when he’d accepted her. Remembering how those eyes shined convinced Liek, as much as everything else, that he couldn’t crack and lose it now.
Opherla and Cauri’s faces drifted through the boy’s mind, their faces when they smiled at him, their satisfied grins after a hard training session, the warmth of their bodies as they relaxed with him on the couch in the Captain’s cabin. He wanted to protect them so bad.
And right now, the best way he could protect them was by ensuring he remained mentally stable. That was why he’d come back here and was currently lying on the ground watching the clouds drift by, the only sounds around him being the wind blowing through the reeds, the echoes of birdsong and the odd miscellaneous sound of game animals wandering about. His goal was simple, to just relax and let his mind drift and wander until it ran out of things to contemplate, and once it had reached that point just enjoy that feeling of serenity.
